money my friend

Several years ago, I walked into a computer store to purchase something or other, and while I was in there I witnessed an exchange that stuck with me. An African was looking at some books, and approached the owner, an older Korean guy asking for a deal. "C'mon on, you can give me a good price, I'm your friend". The owner snaps back quickly, "You not my friend, MONEY my friend!"

The question: what am I ?

PHP and setcookie()

09/03/02 | by David [mail] | Categories: Geek
One thing to note is that while the code fixes the b2 problem, it's not the true fix. The problem is php, NOT B2. I don't know if there's a bug registered for this on php.

Web Wanderings

I find myself undertaking journeys through the web on subjects that come to me from the middle of nowhere. The trips take hours, or days, and meander here and there.

I can't help but think that other people are wondering about the same things somewhere. Here will be a blog where I record where I went, and why I went there, and what I found along the way.

Blog Software

The blog software is working -- Want the code ? Download it at

Why didn't it work? Well, something in the combination of php / apache i'm using doesn't send any but the LAST cookie when using the setcookie() function. So I replaced them all with the equivalent meta http-equiv tags. Works now.

Question: one thing i did but should have verified -- I turned on output_buffering in php.ini.

I should have seen what this did to the output of the cookies. output_buffering allows you to mix header statements with body statments, and not get those pesky errors saying you sent header statements after a body statement. Perhaps I wouldn't have had to change every one of my 'header' statements that i did in b2login, but I didn't check.
